ianmayco68
Hi all , I need to buy a new rubber dump valve for the air filter canister NRC8955 , the rubber bit on the bottom with lips , but can't find one for less than £25 which I think is a bit excessive . So does anyone have a cheaper solution rather than a replacement ? cheers Ian
miketomcat
Mine is bunged up because I have a snorkel so you could just bung it up. Mike
ianmayco68
Cheers Mike , that's the kind of answer I like , FREE . I didn't know if it would affect the running of the engine bunging it up , but I'll definitely try it now .
FridgeFreezer
A length of old bicycle innertube would likely do just as well, but as Mike says blocking it off is fine as long as you check it for water once in a while.
western
Closing off the rubber drain won't affect the engine at all.
HampshireHog
Ian , if you really want one ive got one knocking about still in good condition , your more than welcome to it free of charge
ianmayco68
That’s a very kind offer @HampshireHogthank you , but as there seems to be no reason it will cause problems I think I will block it off and see how it goes. Cheers all 👍.
Mo Murphy
IIRC we used to use a WD40 cap to seal off the drain when waterproofing as it was the same size. Mo

Not half as much water as it lets in when wading! Any water quickly evaporates in the warm airflow as the engine runs anyway.....
ianmayco68
Came up with a solution , bought some large shrink tubing shrunk that on then folded it round and tie wrapped it , job done . cheers all Ian .
FridgeFreezer
Perhaps overkill, but my solution was to weld a bung in the bottom with a cheapy ball valve so I could drain any water out with a quick twist - a bit like HGV air tank drains.
