This was for the lift of a 35T tank at work, lift radius of I reckon 20m? 450T rated crane, with aN extra 120T crane to put the floor pads down. Then it ended up with 140T of ballast on the back of it. ive got a picture somewhere of the crane we had in at work to change the flare tip, i think it was rated at 5-600 ton, was an impressive sight with the fly jib on

Arjan
It happens...... In Holland, 2 cranes put the carriage on the ground without much drama - so that's good. Cranes are fun until it goes wrong.

Interesting how the article calls them ‘quarry wagons’ not heavy haulage ballast tractors.

Escape
If we're gonna talk cranes, this is Big Carl, designed and built by Sarens from Belgium, currently at work at Hickley power station, UK. 2000ton capacity at a radius of 100m. Mammoet and ALE operate similar giants. We saw the Mammoet one during a 1000ton testlift a couple of years ago while offroading (us, not the crane obviously).

Ed Poore
I thought his was big enough, but after seeing these I need bigger... In all seriousness a bigger one wouldn't go amiss, it does reach the roof but can't reach inboard of the eaves.

Ed Poore
If only - this one is only a hire one that the sandblasters have brought in to blast the house. But I might get to keep it for a day or two longer if I want.
