Trip to the Kalahari Desert

Recommended Posts

Hi evereyone,

We just got back from 2400km round trip to the Kalahari desert, where we spent a week on a private game reserve of approximately 1400 sq km.

Here's a teaser, will put up some wildlife photos and videos once I've sorted through the thousands of photos we took.

Pics taken along the N14, one of the straightest, most desolate roads in ZA

Fantastic pictures. I guess you have a telephoto lens.🤣

No, it's a 12-yr old Tamron 18-270mm zoom lens on a 13-yr old Nikon D40.

But we've realised that we actually need a telephoto lens, thinking of getting the Nikkor 200-500mm one.

Cracking pictures Naks :DI love my 18-270mm Tamron. Great all-rounder.... Blown out of the water by the old man's new something-600.

Some real nice experiences there, including the ****ting Lion :P

I had a feeling i wanted to run over and rub those lioness's on the tummy like i do the dogs...

Not sure the outcome would've been the same:lol:

Nice video and pics, and with an older camera too!

I was thinking you were at least using a D750 or above.

How long did it take to catch a lion taking a dump?  Or was it luck.  Beautiful animal but embarressingly indesposed

pot luck, really: we happened upon it drinking at the waterhole, and then it proceeded to relieve itself 😅
