Ruxx
Hi I have repaired the front door frames on my 110 and I was thinking of getting them galvanised does anyone know if this it a goer or does distortion and other problems not make it worth while
Blanco
I haven't heard of anyone doing it, but if they are totally stripped then I don't see why not, zinc and Ali are very close galvanically speaking so it would be a great way of reducing the potential for corrosion , if they did move a bit its not such a heavy frame that it couldn't be tweaked back. Never done it but don't see any reason not to try it. Welcome btw, what LR and is this a total rebuild or just a bit of rolling maintenance?? Ruxx
She's a 110 it wasn't meant to be a full restoration I was only going to do the bare minimum to get her on the road, but she is now scattered in a thousand pieces around the house
toenden
I have done it with no illl sideaffects. Hasn't stopped the galvcorrosion totally though... 😠 /mads
landroversforever
I know a couple of people that have done it without issue. But, you still have to make sure the steel and Ali are separated when the door is skinned.
Bowie69
Or use steel door skins, like this: https://www.sp-4x4.com/lh_galvanised_steel_defender_front_door_skin_p/sp101.htm
L19MUD
Another option is to send them to Mosside Land Rovers in Belfast who will repair your original doors, reskin them with steel panels and galvanize them. I used them for a Series 2 bulkhead (sent over on a pallet from the UK) and was very impressed with the work completed You can find them on Facebook but I know he is really busy
