Hazza
Hello, Having engine swapped my 110 to Td5 power, I've noticed some wandering when accelerating and braking - I'm wondering if the increased power is showing this up, rather than it being a new issue. Essentially, when accelerating the 110 slews one way, and then when I let off it slews the other. It's not severe, but it's noticeable. I'm assuming I need to be looking at the rear suspension, but some guidance on where to focus my efforts would be great. Thanks!
western
Could be a dying rear A frame ball joint/arm bushes to chassis & trailing arm bushes allowing a bit of rear axle steer, worth making sure the hub bearings are in a good state to. Mo Murphy
Trailing arm bushes allowing rear wheel steering. Mo

Hazza
Thanks for those replies, will get a lever behind those bushes and see what moves.
landroversforever
I had it on a 110 and it was the chassis end of the trailing arm bushes.

My 110 needs new bushes in the trailing arms, but when you get a bar in it or MOT it theres no movement. Its exactly the same problem as your having. Tanuki
Also worth checking the tyres - both for rolling-radius and pressure. In times-past one of my cars [1977 Range Rover] had a bit of a power-on/power-off 'drift' which I spent ages trying to track down - eventually turned out to be unmatched (different brands, different amounts of wear) tyres on the front axle. New tyres of the same make on the front and the problem vanished.
Snagger
I wouldn’t limit it to trailing arm bushes; radius arm bushes would have a similar effect, as could a panhard bushes.  Less common is failure of A-fame bushes to the chassis, but if one was worse than the other, the A-frame could skew a little and press the axle a little sideways, with the trailing arm geometry affected. Mo Murphy
Absolutely Nick, check everything. My money is still on the trailing arm bushes though. Panhard rod bushes tend to give that hammering vibration through the steering when they go (once experienced, never forgotten!) Mo
Snagger
I wouldn’t argue with that, just don’t want to rule out the other bushes!  My RRC had terrible road manners at one point, and all four big bushes for the radius and trailing arms were in a bad state, swollen and perished.  But the tracking adjustment was also off, and I’m not sure which was causing the wandering most. landroversforever
I don’t think anyone is limiting it to that... but I’d bet they’re the most common. And of all the options, the smallest issue having the biggest affect. As Mo says, when I needed new panhard bushes it was a vibration rather than steering on/off the throttle.
nickwilliams
I'd second Tanuki's comment. I had similar problems when running with one tyre which was different to the other three. Cured completely with a new set of tyres.
