Landy90
Hi all, hoping this is the right place. Ive recently took ownership of a land rover 90 with a range of classic 4.3 v8 engine in it with a efi flapper. Im able to get the engine to start and idle but if I try to rev it, it cuts out. Ive got enough fuel. Any thing else i should check please
Bowie69
First place would be the ignition amplifier, likely on the side of the distributor if it is a 4.2 (they did maybe a 4.3, but only in Aus.... as the P76) or possibly a slightly sick fuel pump/blocked fuel filter, though this is only based on the "it will idle, but not rev" information. For proper fault finding, there is a whole load of fault diagnosis stuff in the tech archive: Follow that through and you will likely find something amiss. Other thing to check is for basic mechanical condition, split hoses, crusty coils etc all give an ECU a hard time trying to run the engine. FridgeFreezer
^ what Bowie said. Also - has it been stood for a long time, has it been fiddled with, was it running when parked / running recently, has anything changed since it last ran right?
