MogLite
Why don't people use 101's as the basis for a challenge vehicles ? Super strong axles, V8, PTO winch, good angles, big tyres. Truck cab it, and cage it and it should be good through the trees - well good enough, and with good visability. Low gearing, and you can fit ARB's. Weight is less than a Rangie I believe. Parabolics and disc brake conversion should see the job done. Or have I missed something
andyb
Isn't Bathtubs motor 101 based?
FridgeFreezer
Beats me - they're funkadelic. Perhaps people just feel guilty about taking the angle grinder to something a bit rare? Pete / BathTub has 101 axles, so it can be done - and to great effect I would say!
white90
no his is RR with 101 axles/3 link made by Paul Wightman
Les Brock
Bits are a bit specialised, not to mention expensive, Ain't they a bit wide as well, or is that just me
LR90
There's a 101 getting a mention in the old pub that's been fitted with coils and rr axles! As you say Andy, seems a bit retrograde really when the base vehicle is so strong.
OrbitalPear
That coiled one would be my mates. Malcolm Whitbread custom chassis. Lovely bit of kit with modified Range Rover underpinnings. 30 odd pictures and some more details to be found at the end of this link. nas90
101 not good when the going is tough. Paul Wightman used to have a 101 and he off-roaded it about ................ once! Downhill sitting in front of the axle is scary. They were also designed for 5ft 6ins tall squaddies - not a lot of legroom.
Bos
They're a lot better off road when they've got half a ton or so of weight in the back. and you're right they are scary going downhill it's quite easy to stand one it's nose
OrbitalPear
They were also designed for 5ft 6ins tall squaddies - not a lot of legroom. Im 6'2" and I fit in one. My mate is 6'5" and he fits.
