Freelander Tailgate window and wiper problem

Hi All,

I'm a newbie here and in the world of LR so please go easy on me. I have bought a 2002 Freelander TD4. When I was buying it it needed quite a few small things. The lad told me the back window wiper had broken off and the rear window motor had stopped working. Today I did some investigating and found the following:

Wiper motor is not turning, replaced motor and still not trying to turn. Not getting voltage but fuse is ok.

Tailgate window will not move up or down - not even when the tailgate door is opening. The previous owner was able to get it down enough to let the door open and close without the need for the window to move, obviously not water tight at the minute when the window isn't going up. Disconnected the negative from the battery then reconnected and still the window did not go down. Pressing window up on the dash switch I can hear the motor click and it gets voltage for a split second. Pressing down on the switch I get the famous 4 beeps and power at the motor for a split second. Fuse also ok.

When I removed rear trim to investigate I noticed all plugs were disconnected (wiper motor, window motor, window heater). Seems suspicious, like someone has been doing some digging before me.

Anyone got any thoughts where I go from here or what I try next? Suspect the microswitches are working on the door because the dash shows the tailgate open symbol when it is open and disappears when the tailgate door is closed again. Not sure where to go from here - any thoughts?

Thanks in advance, Gary
