simonpelly
Hi Folks, The suggestion from this diagram is that there is no washer or seal for the coolant adapter on the top of the cylinder head on a 300 Tdi - Part 25 in the diagram shamelessly copied from LR Workshop website. Can folk confirm that this is indeed the case? Thanks, Simon...
western
It possibly has a tapered thread so doesn't need a sealing washer. I would refit as shown.
oneandtwo
They are a straight thread, the same as the old 2286 sump plugs from memory.
simonpelly
The reason for asking (should have mentioned) is that we have a slight weep coming from it. Wondering whether to either tighten it up further (it's was fitted to 25Nm) or remove + add a copper washer. What got me thinking is that the temperature sensor has a copper washer. A tampered thread might explain it but if straight would have thought a washer would be used. Simon...
western
maybe a couple of wraps of ptfe plumbers tape will help seal it, just looked in my 300Tdi overhaul book [genuine LR] it doesn't even mention this stub pipe in remove/refit text.
Tim2809
Get some liquid ptfe and coat the threads, refit, leave for 30 mins before refilling system.
simonpelly
PTFE sounds like the way to go. Did not know about liquid PTFE - Will try that. Simon...
reb78
I was going to suggest PTFE tape too. I would think an easy and cheap fix for a change!
simonpelly
Hi Folks, Can confirm that the liquid PTFE option worked a treat. All good. Thanks again, Simon...
