Gazzar
I was disassembling done doors, taking off the tops, and the stud that ties the two together came out of the aluminium housing instead of the nut coming off. Take a good look at the stud.....
Gazzar
Guess which end was in the inaccessible aluminium casing?
Eightpot
Clearly you have been spared but only to suffer a worse fate. Never try to beat the system, you should have made efforts to snap the bolt as prescribed 🙁
Gazzar
Ah, the other one has a snapped bolt in it already. I think that should suffice, I hope. What's the acid that eats steel but not aluminium?

What's the acid that eats steel but not aluminium? It's called Galvanic Corrosion and is the result of dissimilar metals and water.
Gazzar
Yes, I know a little bit about Galvani and the cells, but there an actual acid that might eat the steel out of the aluminium for me. Rather than me drilling/welding/tapping the remainder of that stud out.

You'll probably have to go mandraulic on the removal of the bits, with copious use of a good penetrant oil to assist.
