Exmoor Beast
I have to replace a wing mirror on my brothers freelander. How does the damn thing come off? I presume the inner speaker grill thingey comes out somehow. I don't want to force it though and snap it off by heaving at it. Will

Exmoor Beast
Thanks Gordon. No Help! I did a similar thing last week with a 7.5ton truck, caught a sign at the side of the road and smashed both nearside wing mirrors, cost me £130 Not impressed when they charge you £18 for 'insurance' Ho hum Right back to the problem in hand, Freelander wing mirrors.... Will easy peasy. remove the black triangle of plastic on the inside of the door. Undo the bolts ( i think they are TORX bolts) and remove wing mirror from the outside
Exmoor Beast
Does it just pull off this black plastic bit? This one has what looks like a speaker panel directly behind the wing mirror, I haven't looked to see if it is actually a speaker, but its a grill thingey anyway. I gave it tentative tug but it seemed fairly well attached (strange for a Land Rover I know) I wondered if the grill bit popped out then it was screww fixed or something... Andy
if its attached with clips anything like disco ones you'll need a long screwdriver & a lot of effort (about when you excpect it to break) to move the thing. probably no help but thought id say it anyway
jules
it goes up or towards the glass I cant remember which. put some wd40 on the mirror to ease it out.. the rubber seal makes it very tight

Then there are two wires behind that attch to the tweeter-thingy. I swapped the non folding mirrors on our ex-Jules Freelander for the later folding type. YOu can get them off internet for £50-75 and it just needs one exterior hole being drilled out to (IIRC) 13mm. 10 minute job. Cheers Blippie
