DirtyRaul
Hi Can someone please let me know the function of the bolt circulated in the picture attached? I am trying to remove the brake shield. I have removed the two small bolts now it seems to me that the only thing that it is holding it in place is this big bolt. Does this bolt have any other function? N.B.: This picture is not from my Defender. I found it elsewhere, but it shows the bolt in question. Retroanaconda
Yes that is the steering stop bolt, it limits the travel of the steering to stop the tyres rubbing on the chassis. The mud shield is retained by the locknut on the back of the bolt, so you shouldn’t need to remove the bolt itself, just the nut. If you do have to remove the bolt take note of its length or you will have to reset the steering stops afterwards.

I am not sure if I recall seeing a nut on the other side of that bolt against the mudguard. I will take another look tomorrow and revert. western
You can just see one of the 6 points of the nut, on other side of swivel housing.
