Body mounting

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

a few questions regarding body mounting. My vehicle is a 110 cab chassis (truck cab body nothing rear of rear bulkhead). Its currently being modified.

”If” it were a stock 110 truck cab with tub, what would the basic body installation procedure be? Knowing this can help me build the components with end result in mind.

I think we start with the bulkhead? Does this get bolted to the outriggers with set equal spacers each side? (I removed what ever factory spacers were there long ago to mount my sliders )

Is there any adjusting in the fore/aft each side or up the door pillar of bulkhead?

With the tub in the correct position first, you then get the gap between the posts correct at the cill, by spacing the bulkhead to outrigger at the bottom of the A post. Then you get the angle of the bulkhead correct.

it’s much better just to watch this video from Mike

Thanks. A good couple of videos by Mike.

it does pose a bit of a problem however….

I don’t have a rear crossmember, tub or doors lol. All to be custom fabricated.

I guess he set the height of the front of rear tub off the height of the bulkhead. Bolted hard back to rear crossmember mounts.

I’ll have to take some measurements and see if my bulkhead outriggers are the same measurements from suspension mounts etc on L&R sides. I just want to get my rear bulkhead true front to back each side. Then I guess I’ll have to build my tub working on whatever door size I want.

Aaahh but there lies the solution..........

If you custom fabbing, you can just make it fit how you want, you're not restricted by body size and shape

Looking forward to this regards Stephen

True, but I don’t want to stray too far from the theme, that is how the basic components go together. The biggest changes I’m making is just length (longer doors, shorter tub) I’d like to think I can make two doors close to the same length and square, and the tub same length both sides and square.

At this stage my intention is to make the doors last.

Are you planning on starting with an original rear tub and shortening it? Staying with a LR shaped rear rather than a tray?

Yes. I have a SIIA 109 tub pulled apart. The 110 hardtop is very rare and the 110 truck cab virtually non existent in Australia, so no tubs from them unfortunately. I have a 110 cab chassis truck cab rear bulkhead to use. I know I’ll have to re profile the wheel arch’s also.
