No power to starter solenoid

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon, i have an 09 plate defender, it's a 2.4 td4 L316.

The vehicle won't start, there is power to the starter from the battery, but no power to the solenoid exciter wire.
the battery is charged, the fuses ok, already had a jump cable from engine to battery earth to rule that out.

Does anyone know which relay is the starter relay?

I have a fuse box and 3 relays under the passenger seat, one i believe is the glow plug relay, ihave tried swapping 2 of the (same relays ) around, i also have another 7 relays under the dash board.

At the ignition swich, one wire is live when ignition is on, then earth when (cranked) position 3.
the other wire is earth, the goes live on position 3, so i'm guessing that's ok?

If i knew which relay output went to the solenoid i could do a continuity test between there are the relay and rule the wiring out

Any ideas?

Regards
