Electronic starting gremlins

Recommended Posts

Good evening

Our w reg, td5,  110 has today developed a starting issue. When I go to turn the key to start the engine there is no resistance, And a lack of lights on the dashboard apart from the abs and oil light. (See photo) also the temperature gauge is in the red and it is never there apart from this afternoon. But when I took the lower cowling off under the steering column and had it hanging in place I lent on the under side and turned the key and it fired up all okay and all the lights on the dash as they should this only happened  once and I haven’t managed it since.

I don’t think this is a mechanical issue I’m guessing it’s something to do with the electrics behind the steering wheel area.

any ideas any one has would be much appreciated, Thank you
