garryc
53 plate TD5. Rear door lock has failed with the door locked shut. Thankfully with the door card removed. Pulling the internal release lever doesn't work. Neither does moving the levers attached to the mechanism. And I can't open the door to remove the mechanism. Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you.
Blanco
I had the same trouble with my breaker,.... lack of use and lube. I found a search didn't really help much, found one guy had apparently pushed the right part of the lock between the mechanism and the skin, but his hands must be smaller than mine. I gave up and (as its a breaker) just cut away the rear corner and cut the latch loop away. Hope you find an easier way. Lots of lube to start with, absolutely soak it, and see if you can unstick it. If anyone has one out of the vehicle it might help to understand where you need to get a finger (or something) into the mechanism.
dave88sw
Sometimes the outside handle sticks in the pulled position, it has to return before you pull it again or the latch will not release. Just try popping the land rover badge in the tailgate handle out and push the handle back towards the door, then pull it again. Or if the central locking motor in the latch has failed, push the outside handle back towards the door and then pull the interior handle to unlock the door.
