RizzleKicks
Hey Folks, I've been asked by my elderly neighbour , who owns a 2004 D2 and not very computer literate to put up a post on his behalf. He has the G4 Roof Bars and has noticed the roof lining is wet, a closer inspection confirmed the roof bar gaskets are the issue. Has called the local Stealers , who say the Roof Bar gaskets are obsolete and would not give out part numbers. Can anyone help auld Hamish with part numbers ? There was also the possibility of using a sealant adhesive around the base of the bars and then setting the bars in place , what is the best adhesive to use for this and one that won't damage the paintwork , can anyone recommend sealant? Been advised no TigerSeal as its hellish to remove if required to do so. TIA RizzleKicks
Blanco
Not sure what G4 roof bars are, but have a look at the 'Classic' parts pages, there is quite a bit of detail if you dig here for example
SPendrey
I replaced the (very tired) gaskets on my 1994 Disco by purchasing some quite dense closed-cell foam material, about 1" thick, and then cutting to size. Yes, the exposed edges store water because the cells are open there (having been cut), but beyond that water does not penetrate.
