Jim Mason
Help... Nearly blown engine again - short drive to check steering issue - Landy increased in temp rapidly. Got home expansion tank cold, heater in landy cold. Removed pipes all dry no fluid - just steam. Took top hose off water pump started engine - no fluid being pumped Stripped pump - still attached nothing loose What could be going wrong - is she sucking in air or air locked? 20220502_161225.mp4
steve b
Did you follow the correct procedure to fill completely? Are the small bore bleed off pipes clear - stat hsg. to rad and header tank Steve
Jim Mason
Filled as i normally do, how should you fill up from fresh - have i air locked her?
steve b
Both plugs out Fill the header tank to the seam , fit cap tight fill rad through plug hole until full , it takes a little while to fully settle full . Fit plug tight. fill thermostat housing through the plug hole . Fit plug tight. That should do it . Check those bleed off pipes too . Putting an impellor pump at the top of the system full level is utterly beyond me . But as we are all too aware JLR made lots of questionable engineering choices.... Anderzander
Has it been leaking out the tell tale hole ? If the seals in the water pump go they can lose a lot of water out of there ..

Maverik
Its not entirly clear picture, but the pump vains - looks different to any type I've seen before, I'm more familier with the stamped steel type - if you google you can see many like it, the pump vains look a good bit longer - but I guess pumping is kind irrelevant if ther's no water in the pump to start off with?
