Fuel gauge

Recommended Posts

I have just bought a 1995 300tdi defender and was driving home when it started spluttering and died on me (ran out of fuel). The fuel guage was just touching the red in no more and no warning light so i thought i still had enough to get home the last mile but obviously not so my questions are 1. Is this normal re when needle just touches the red you run out ? . 2. Is there a low fuel warning light ?

Ok so as it just touches the red fill up again or is the float unit easily accessible that i could adjust it a bit so the needle is nearer the lower end on the guage incase a friend or wife is driving it so they dont get caught out . Thanks .

You could adjust it - but on some models it's painful.

I would just live with it!  My Td5 used to stop exactly 12 miled after the fuel light came on.  Previous V8 would die just as the needle went into the Orange region.  You just learn when you need to fill up.  Like many things about Land Rovers - it's a 'Feature' 🤣
