Plenty of people with trailers around if it breaks spectacularly ;)

Yes... thanks... not really sure what to say about that 😛

Plus, RAC covered...

There's no REAL reason it should, in theory ;) In other news, I may need a new alternator...

In a change to advertised schedule, very likely will go up early Saturday morning, much less chance of being stranded on the side of a motorway in the dark then 😛

The Lightweight got some last minute attention and upgrades and is secured on the trailer, ready for @elbekkoto hook up his Range Rover tomorrow morning.

And then a mate came by eager to pick up the spanners. And a bit disappointed I was already done (it was around 20.30h) and didn't really need his help. So we started reassembly on the Lotus twin cam, with Lemmy on the radio and a tasty beer on the bench. A great evening, only downside: it was past midnight when I started packing my stuff. 🙃

See you all tomorrow (or rather, later today). I look forward to seeing the little green thing!

We've just arrived back home, after a long but fairly smooth trip.

We had a great weekend, good to see old friends again and make new ones. 🙂 The Lightweight never got stuck, not for lack of trying. The engine and carb could use some TLC though.

Thanks to all and looking forward to the pictures and videos.

Indeed, a fantastic weekend thanks to everyone who came - and 99% sunshine too, I must buy a lottery ticket!

Was great to see some old faces & put faces to a few names too - I can only apologise that being involved in organising things meant we got pulled away in various directions, including missing saying goodbyes as we were recovering a VERY stuck truck at the top of the waterfall from ~1pm until ~7.30pm :o

I've got a few photos and videos to go through when I get a moment!

@elbekko took some pictures, when he was not too busy navigating, spotting, driving or just being thrown around in the Lightweight.

Excellent, the first two photos are good, puts the size of the little green thing into perspective along side Tommy regards Stephen

Put in a row of Defenders, Tommy does look small. 😉

I really had a great time with Tommy and was pretty impressed with the performance. Especially in mud and ruts, with better (softer) tyres the rocky sections should be more controlled as well. A large part of me wants to take him back, but I've made up my mind and will sell as was the plan all along. Just some more cleaning to do now...
Problem is, if I keep Tommy, chances are I'll soon be busy doing all kinds of modifications. Better to keep the lightweight standard for someone else to enjoy and concentrate my efforts on the P38 project. 😉

This is the insanely capable light weight of the Belgian contingent, coming up the same slope as the little green thing video in my thread:

Felipe and Ben were excellent hosts on the a econd day, really enjoyed our bimble interspersed with cool, t3chnical lanes I hadn't seen before :)

Sorry for being a bit slow posting, gone down with a virus overnight.

Some more pics, I didn't get many.... cos I was driving!

My only stuck moment, quick tug from behind by the lightweight,  and out, 30" tyre are definitely a hinderence at 7S:

I gave Tommy some attention yesterday, few niggles sorted and I had a play with the carb. After finding a manual...I really should have done my homework before 7S, that way I could have tinkered on the site and hopefully avoid the annoying stalling issue. Not taken him for a longer run yet, so I don't know if the power issue is solved as well, but idle is definitely more stable. I'll replace the fuel screen as well, just to be sure.

And I've put up some extra decoration as a reminder of a great weekend.

Hey, @FridgeFreezer, I'm sure you have more photos to post?

Indeed I do - just been editing them in between enjoying the lurgi I contracted last week :(

Also my camera for some reason forgot what day/time it is so the photos may be a little out of sequence

This group from the west country are top quality entertainment - by the afternoon they had about 4 vehicles up on jack stands, tools, diffs and shafts everywhere, and a Disco that sounded like several pistons were not in the location they left the factory - but they were having a whale of a time:lol:

Well, having a little bimble round on Sunday, I uttered the immortal words "Let's just have a quick look at the waterfall before lunch"...

Meanwhile, up at the very top of a very nasty section...

2022-09-25_080.jpg

2022-09-25_082.jpg

A very stuck buggy - rear winch dead, front winch unhappy, front prop broken, front 37" so far underground we had to dig just to find the top of it.

Add in the fact he's at the top of a very gnarly challenge section it meant only a limited number of trucks could even get up there - and there's already multiple trucks up there which are stuck and/or broken, blocking the only routes in & out...

2022-09-25_094.jpg

It was VERY stuck, winching forward just resulted in pivoting around the front right.

2022-09-25_110.jpg

This is one of the non-stuck trucks coming out of section, it's way steeper than it looks.

2022-09-25_119.jpg2022-09-25_129.jpg

These guys melted their winch wiring trying to get out along the top track - so we couldn't come in that way.

2022-09-25_102.jpg

Trying to pull it round - no decent recovery points and a cage made of... well, we don't think it was CDS because it bent like a noodle if you winched off it :o

2022-09-25_15-33-16.jpg

Some heavy teamwork and coordination going on, winch lines and strops going in all directions to try and find something solid to pull from and to attach to.

2022-09-25_16-49-58.jpg

Some hours later - a bit of impromptu re-alignment of the chakras and a few trees being re-homed

2022-09-25_174.jpg

Inconvenient flora out of the way, and a LOT of winching including repeated snapped plasma ropes, it finally started to emerge - at this point I'm dreading it coming out with the wrong number of wheels, but it came out in one piece... and promptly ran out of diesel.

2022-09-25_19-16-55.jpg

It took us about another hour or more to get him down the hill, as we had to get him to solid ground at the top of the hill, then send the Disco down ahead so that he could winch him down through this section, then get the Disco clear so he could try and drive down with only RWD...

But we got out in the end, about 7pm by my guestimate.
