GBMUD
As far as i'm aware its 30degrees lateral movement, and unrestricted vertical movement so the johnny joint shouldnt restrict it in any way I was assuming that the arm would be fixed to the axle in the usual way and that if the axle wanted to rotate about the prop shaft for example, so the radius arm would have to rotate through a similar angle. D9OSV
My question about rotation angles of the joints seems to have got lost in all the excitement. I understand that the Johnny joints offer 30 degrees of movement, 15 degrees either way. That would make them more restrictive to articulation than the A-frame ball joint - assuming that the A-frame ball joint was at the optimum angle. If I am right, how do your arms offer any more articulation than standard Jim?Chris Hi Chris, I be completely honest, it just works.... I'm very much an engineer that will take something test it and use it, rather than one to look at at the figures. I'm lucky enough to be able to look at somethings and see it. Don't forget that when the A frame ball joint flexs the arms must move in either an upward or downward plane this lessens the angle the joint is required to rotate as againist the movement of the A frame ball joint. I'm sorry it's not the tech answer of the decade, and i'm sure those with far greater techincal mouse will be able to cut BIG holes in that. But i'm very happy with it. Perhaps we'll try the RTI ramp at Billing this year and we can all have a look I do have one customor that runs with out Jam nuts on the joints on his own arms (NOT ours) and uses the thread to give extra rototation, very much like Paul Wightman, Safari gard and Sunray do with there systems. There is no harm in this if the vehicle is offroad (Or in the case of Safari gard, onroad), as the 11/4 thread is more than man enough. However i would lock it with a jam nut before using it on the road. I think the best way to fully understand the rotation characteristics is to try it, we have, it worked(For us). Obviously we understand that this is not right everyone as all suspension is different, however it works well enough that I would not do without it. Poor answer, but as i said before it's honest, we have nothing to hide and NO hard sell. If you like them great, if not not then there is plenty of other arms available for use. Hope that helps a little Chris Jim

I have heard about people using the thread as a rotating joint in the past and have expressed my dis-satisfaction at this, it cannot be "proper". Although, as you say, not dangerous off-road. Once carp is in there though it would be a potential death trap on the road. Cheers Chris
Adrian Turner
and in all honesty I wasn't that impressed with what I saw. Though I freely admit this was from a purely asthetical point of view... I'm not exactly qualified to state whats good and bad welding This i find hard to believe, as these arm's are turned out by Paul Whitman and Rogue Vogue who are both coded welder's! and highly respected! who turn out a very high standard of work....consistently

B reg 90
Re:-"The cars been in for a long time as bespoke work tends to evolve as the clients design and requirements change, presently the car weighs in (on calibrated corner scales) at over 200kgs lighter than the "claimed" lightest truck from a specialist 4x4 garage, Anyway thanks for clearing up the mystery surrounding the arms Jim - very helpful I'm interested in what the weight of the lightest truck is and what was on it when wieghed + what engine, winches, axles etc it had. It would make an interesting target for my motor! Adrian

FridgeFreezer
FF, I hate to say it but winning consistantly does prove something. Not taking sides but it is a fact. Winning consistently does prove you can win consistently, however IMHO it does not prove that one particular mod is any good on a truck with loads of mods as there are so many variables at play. Statistically it may be that more trucks with Sony stereos win winch challenges, does that mean they help?

dollythelw
I'd still like to see the rest of the kit, I can see the logic with everything working together but not with only half the story fitted, I guess pricing for the extended A frame and W/A props will show up in Feb?
