Warthog
Under the tech section on here. I'm sure it said 21.7Nm? But in the manuals it recommends 14 to 16Nm (for a new belt) Could someone point me in the right direction for this? Cheers Ez question, but gotta make sure! Bush65
14 Nm in the manual rings a bell, but Land Rover have since issued an instruction to reduce the torque on the tensioner to a lesser value of 11 Nm (from memory - I will have to check). Reducing the belt tension improves the problem 300Tdi timing belts tracking off with the cr&ppy timing belt pulleys used in the 300Tdi. Edit: Just verified 11 Nm torque for the tensioner. Found in Land Rover Technical Bulletin 0008, dated 25.03.98 Note: this is the torque for rotating the tensioner against the timing belt. The torque for tightening the lock bolt for the tensioner is 45 Nm.
