DE24FEN
Hi All just had my insurance renewal go from £900 to £1675 . This has gone up in the last 3 months from when I bought the vehicle . Can anyone recommend an insurance company? I asked Directline why it had risen and was told Land Rover parts have gone up recently.
jeremy996
Unfortunately there is no substitute for shopping around. Insurance companies have found LRs to be a nightmare to fix and a common target for thieves, so almost everyone on the market has raised rates or simply left the market. Start with the likes of Compare the Market and fill in with some of the direct offerings. If you buy LRM, try some of the 'specialists' who advertise, (although I've never had any luck with them). My LR110CSW and now my Grenadier is insured by NFU - it is not cheap, but they are easy to deal with and the claims service is competent. DE24FEN
Thanks, Jeremy NFU was my highest so far £1705 the Cheapest so far is approx £1000 with Esure. I was with Direct Line at £710 and it went to £1676 on renewal saying Land Rover parts have risen. I've tried most comparison sites. Lightning
Try LV. Under £700 for my 2022 90 Commercial and that was at the height of the insurance scare last year. Land Rover parts prices haven't "gone up recently" any more than spares from any other car manufacturers.
Steve Marquis
NFU for me was about £800 for a 90 and a 110, but we do have a croft so that might alter things and our location. Lancaster were good last year, not sure Howden at Thatcham are doing this year but they were good too.
Happyoldgit
I was with NFU for motor insurance for years, and still have machinery & property with them, but shifted to LV 10+ years ago. While they lack the personal interaction you get with NFU local agents LV have been very good.
Retroanaconda
My 110 was with LV but they raised it from £700 to £1,300 this year with no justification, so we ended up parting ways. I settled on Admiral in the end for just over £800. Still a rip off.
mickeyw
My V8 110 CSW is with Greenlight Insurance Services (a broker). I've just renewed for a shade under £300. They're great to deal with on the phone- you actually get to talk to a human! That gives me fully comp on a mildly modified vehicle, up to 3000 miles a year for 2 named drivers, full and protected NCD. Both drivers with clean licences and no claims on record. Just to add, as this is the 2020 onwards Defender part of the forum. With an old Defender Greenlight are probably okay, but their terms and conditions say the vehicle has to be worth "under £30,000" so that excludes any new model Defender.
