mike4444244
Hi Just wondering if anybody on here regularly drives from darn saarf near southampton to the midlands (telford), I'm after finger's rangy engine/box and interior but its too far for me to go and I can't get the bits into a clio (although did you know you can get a 110 bulkhead, 2 4x4 16g sheets and a mini subframe in with a passenger too!) so if anybody could help me out suitable beer tokens could be arranged! ta mike
Guest diesel_jim
I'll probaby (98% sure) going to Paddocks in Derbycestershire on Tuesday (from Swindon) to pick up a sanket trailer body, so i'll have a tow-a-van box tailer on. If you can get the bits to Swindon by tuesday, i'll gladly bring them up.
mike4444244
Hi Jim, Sounds ideal but unfortunately i'm only free at weekends for the next 4 weeks because I have just started a different hospital rotation at uni... Thanks anyway Mike
steve_a
I come from Portsmouth to Worcester pretty much every week, so I might be able to help depending on timescales etc. I usually come up on a monday morning in my disco, but I have zero storage ability in Worcester, I might at a squeeze be able to leave the engine on site during the week, but not sure, so it would need to be a well organised thing. Also bit concerned about the ability of my disco's floor to hold the weight of an engine... so it would probably be best in a trailer so makes more complicated. mike4444244
Hi Steve, If you have access to a trailer that would prob be better as its got a gearbox/transfer box on it and i'd probably be taking the full interior too If its do-able Maybe i could meet you off the M5 or something... i'm on holiday from uni from the 9th onwards so could meet you on a monday no probs. steve_a
well if someone from down here can offer the loan of a trailer for a weekish then I can do it. might need to check the trailer socket on disco as well, not been used since I bought it. Only trailer I have access to is a bit small and not sure if it would like a substantial journey...... Engine and gearbox combo must be getting on for about 6 ft in length maybe so gonna have to be a reasonable size trailer? So assuming a trailer turns up (rent one?) then I can bring up on a monday, you do next leg to your place and then meet me with the trailer later in the week for return to down sarf. If you're still stuck for a trailer pm me - we have a twin axled flatbed, but not a massive one - lengthwise, an 88" just fits. Sitting in Southampton. mike4444244
Hi guys doesnt need to be a big trailer as I'm sure it could be split to make it easier to shift. I'll be in an estate with a small trailer, just a 3ftx4ft camping trailer fits a v8 quite nicely! Unfortunatly I have a 'new' licence so can only tow a small trailer anyway! If I was to meet you in a convenient place near the motorway with an engine crane and a trailer we could transfer the boxes and interior into the estate and the engine into the trailer Mike
