TheRecklessEngineer
Just been fiddling with my disco (300, '96) There is some play in the alternator shaft. I'm guessing this means the bearings are worn. How urgently should I consider a replacement? Given that im going to be in greece for 6 months shortly, and won't have brilliant access to spare parts? Is it possible to replace the bearings? Im not afraid to go delving inside it...
western
change it before you go, just go for a exchange unit from your local vehicle electrical supplier
Corrode Finger
If you pay the small extra charge for not exchanging it, you can take the old one as a spare incase the new decides to play up, had that before, and as you will be in greece, its an insurance.
