110 axles

Recommended Posts

HI,

Just bought a 2nd hand axle for my 1998 110, the one installed has a casing with tubes pressed into the diff housing and the one I bought has a one piece housing...

Which is which and is it ok to go ahead and install it...? cheers Dave

Sounds like the one you've just bought is a late Td5 type.... with a removable diff unit just like the 90's have (or like the front axles have)

the other type you describe (has a casing with tubes pressed into the diff housing) is a Salisbury 8HA... like this:

Both are interchangable, however the later one you've got may need a slightly longer propshaft, as i think the nose of the diff isn't as far "forward" as the salisbury ones.
