andyb
Why would an R380 gearbox loose reverse gear? It feels like it has engaged but when you lift the clutch it just sounds like two gears grinding teeth against each other. I checked Ashcroft Transmission FAQ but the only answer there assumes that you have lost 5th gear as well.....this box still works in 5th. So, whats the problem? is it a DIY fix? and is it a common problem or has this just occurred thru driver abuse? TIA
Turbocharger
Could be the adjustment on the switch for the reverse light holding it out of gear?
minivin
I'd go with the switch for starters, the other possibilities are that the idler gear shaft has sheared, or.... well.... i'm not overly sure as most other things would result in some rather nasty meshing noises as you drove along to get upto 5th gear
Les Henson
I thought that the reverse switch being in too far prevents reverse from being selected - you can't physically select it? Les.
