SiWhite
Other than green...... Recently I've been rather taken by the green used to paint Wolfs (wolves?) and some of the newer British Army wagons. It seems to be darker than most of the N/A Land Rovers and older Bedfords I've seen. Is it a different colour, or is it simply because the paint fades over time? Where is the best place to get this sort of paint from? Is it best sprayed, or is rollering acceptable. Many Thanks!

The current shade does seem to be darker and has an eggshell sheen to it. To be authentic it should be roughly applied with a dirty yard broom. I'm going to have a single garage sized spray booth sorted shortly. I'm not sure if you'd be able to fit an entire vehicle in there (height wise) but you're welcome to have a go. Superpants
I'm afraid I don't know the colour, but the reason it is a bit shiner is that it is highly likely to be 'IRR CARC'- Infra Red Reflective Chemical Agent Resistant Coating. Basically easier to de-contaminate if it gets hit with chemical weapons! All of the paints fade over time which will have some effect on the shade, but even on new kit there are a few different base colours of green! I got the paint for my series III from Anchor supplies a few years ago, but there a a number of other places that stock it. I'd probably get the next lot from War Paint as they seem to know what they are talking about! (bought odds and sods from them at the War and Peace Show)
BogMonster
I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was some fancy anti infra red stuff which cost a fortune and was a restricted military item so you couldn't buy it anyway. Wonder if anti infra red paint will ward off laser speed guns
JST
Si - it depends where it is, alot of them are sandy coloured!!!! i could prob get you the paint code if you wanted it but i dont think you will be able to get it to 'general public' for reasons above. Log
You're right. The 'NATO green paint' supplied by the likes of Anchor supplies and others is not the same as what the latest army vehicles are painted. It is a lighter shade of green. More like what the older series vehicles were painted with. Would be good to find a supplier of the latest colour. Log

Simon Smith
We used to draw it from the stores as simply "NATO Green" but I havent seen a good match for it available anywhere. Having it mixed from a sample would be the best idea and many paint specialists can do this.
