MECCANO Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Ok im confused. I brought a 1.2 transfer from a disco 1 without the rear input gear bearing support plate and cover. i thought i would be able to take the plates off a nackered 200tdi defender transfer. when i took the defender transfer box apart there were no gaskets between the plates just gunk. Looking in the EPC it suggests gaskets are to be used, and the fact the shim required with out would be 2.85mm (Not an option) Will this defender plate work ok with a gasket, or am i barking up the wrong tree and the correct plate to suit the box Any help is greatly appreciated Quote
white90 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 shove the bearing carrier on with a gasket and check the input gear for float if all appears ok shove the outer cover on these items were removed to fit the crawler box on mine and gaskets used to shim the gear that replaced the input gear that was removed. I came across two types of bearing carrier one had retaining screws the outer just RTV sealant Quote

I believe that early models had gaskets, but then there was a techinical bulletin later which recommended only sealant. Quote
