geoffbeaumont
I've got a second hand stainless exhaust on the rangie - I think (but have no way to be sure - it's got no markings) that it's a Double-S system. It's stainless from the front silencer back, but the tubular headers and y-pipe are mild steel. The y-pipe on my system has split along a seam, and in any case been butchered a bit to get it off the donor vehicle and has always been prone to blow at joint with the left header as a result, so I'm thinking a replacement is probably in order. As far as I can see Double-S' supply part or complete systems, so I'm guessing if the y-pipe is mild steel it isn't Double-S. Given it's running into tubular headers, what's the chance that it's just a standard one? That would be handy given they're only about £15... Does anyone have one of these systems and know if that's the case?

I couldn't find a standard Y-piece to connect up to my tubular headers, so had one made out of SS when I had the rest of the system made by Longlife. Coastcard
As HfH above, I would say Janspeed for mild steel tubular headers. The designs do vary quite a lot, so you could probably tell from pictures on websites. The Janspeed ones are meant to have one of the better designs with all the primaries pretty much the same length which visually makes it look quite tangled!! stumpy2268
The double S headers and system are IMHO a good quality fabrication for the money. I have fitted 2 on my V8's with no fouling or additional bending required. You should be aware however that, although Double S will sell you only the Y piece, they charge a premium for 'part systems', as I found when looking for only the front section for my bobtail. I ended up buying a complete sports system, incl. headers, for less than the cost of the bits I wanted. Aid.
geoffbeaumont
Hmm...it doesn't look anything like the exhausts Janspeed have on their (pretty dreadful) website, whereas as the tailpipe (before I had it butchered) looked exactly right for a Double-S. Could be anything really, though - like I said, no identification markings at all. If it's going to be expensive I'd be better off having the existing y-piece repaired - there's plenty of life in it yet.
