vinny
The LT77 in my 90 makes an awful crunch when selecting reverse. The rest of the gears arent bad, a little tight when changing when cold but I can live with that. Whats causing this to happen?? Even with the engine stopped selecting reverse still produces a crunch noise????? Any help with this much appreciated!!!! Vinny
Lars L
Clutch that's not doing its job properly. Something in the hydraulics is my guess.
Les Henson
Drop the oil and see if there's bits of metal in it, otherwise as Lars says, check the clutch mechanism. Les.
Ivan
Err I thought this was normal as my Discovery does it all the time. Ivan
vinny
Ive drained the oil, checked the small filter and no bits in the oil. In the past few months ive fitted a new slave, master cylinder and reciently heavy duty clutch, pressure plate, clutch bearing and release arm. I think there must be someting worn in the box even with the engine off, handbrake on transfer box in neutral it will slip up and down the gears but try reverse with or without the clutch pressed and krunch..... Gromit
Interesting. Mine krunches all the time too. Thought it was a feature, not a bug.
