Cool brakes

This is the brakes I run on the 1.8 freelander

R reg freelander

I fitted these to improve the braking as a hole because the early one are a bit carp on the brakes front.

This is my wife driving

When fitted new (there is a 25mm spacer also fitted) see the very sexy shock

After a few races use

The pad upgrade is to EBC.

the Disc are from Beamach I don't know who makes them

The Td4 also has a upgrade but the brakes are genrally much better on the td4 due to the bigger calipers

Hey Jules,

Did you leave the drums on the rear - while I appreciate the drums actually work well on a Freelander, I am surprised that disks were not put on the back - it is not as if having the handbrake operating the disk pads is a new novel idea - my 76 Lancia had them on the rear and subaru have has front operated handbrake disks

for years. Even my E-type has the handbrake operating the rear disk but they do it with a seperate set of pads.

Though, Freelanders having ABS and TC on drum brakes must be a first.

I have to ask this, as here in Australia the Freelander is the last car we would think of racing, why race Freelanders? What is the competition? What sort of racing is it? How successful are they?

What about a seperate post about the pros and cons of racing a Freelander, and maybe another about the formula they race under.

Cheers

Garry

I first raced under standerd reg's so I can't change them

The disc rear convertion I'm told is very easy with basicly remove the rear disc from a Rover 800 and fit them.

so I am told.?????

Really? I think I'll take a visit to my local breakers today and see what I can find!
