tuko
Today I removed the Weber carb to trial fit the SU/adapter and to my surprise, I found that there is a reducer under the EGR adapter. The reducer, reduces the bore from 44mm to 40mm, leding into the inlet manifold. Obviously, this reduces performance, so I'm wondering, can I remove it? Is there anybody out there that has done that, or are running with this reducer? The reducer is over 1cm thick, if the carb is closer to the manifold, will there be an issue with over heating in the carb? Opinions/suggestions ? Todd. Todd.....long time since i had a 4 pot Series carb off so i dont recall that opening being smaller........ firstly why not try the carb without the spacer, ( asuming the linkage works) if the carb runs hotter that can only be a good thing for winter secondly i suppose you could machine the adaptor hole to suit.................. Chris Davies
Todd, which weber are you running? the twin choke of a 2.5 or the one sometimes found on the 2.25?
muddyplugger
My 2.25 petrol series III lightweight had that reducer leading to the inlet manifold too, never had any issues, mind you dunno how I would have known if it lacked power! MartinEva
Todd, which weber are you running? the twin choke of a 2.5 or the one sometimes found on the 2.25? Chris. Thats the 34ICH single choke kit used to replace the Zenith 36IV. Todd. I suspect you would gain nothing but removing the reducer. The carb is already a 34mm which actually has a 29mm choke. If you want better performance, the 32/36 DGV is the way to go Cheers Martin
