flatback90
simple question lads the new series i have has a fairey od but the sticker has gone of the lever is it lever forward for the od to work or back?
rtbarton
IIRC it's forwards to engage, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find out. Drive along at 30 mph, move the lever (clutch in &c&C) and if the revs go down for the same speed you're now in OD, if they increase you've just changed out of OD. NB there is a neutral position between forwards & back so don't get caught out when the car won't move!
02GF74
3 position forrward - o/d in middle - neutral back - o/d out You fit the knob so the you can read the writing the right way up.

western
I thought the positions were engraved into the lever top, if so a tin of white paint & a pencil brush would restore it. or use tippex correction fluid.

EP90 GL4 is the correct oil. The filler cap incorporates a dipstick
Phil Hancock
The early ones had a flat top knob with a sticker to put on after fitting.
