Paul Whibley
Hi. when i throttle up quite hard the turbo area squeals like a slack fan belt. i have pin pointed it down to the waste gate not opening or closing, if i push the rod back manually there is no noise, if i take the pipe off what is attached to the actuator it is blowing air through , what are your thoughts. BLACK CAB
This could well be a broken actuator spring, see here for info on rebuilding T2/25 Actuator. http://photo.platonoff.com/Auto/20051003.S...ctuator_Spring/
lynall
The pivots seize on these where the shaft goes into the turbo. Remove the clip and then drip some oil onto shaft and work it in, it takes ages but works, the oil eventually gets burnt off but shaft stays free! dont ask me why. This worked on mine and cost zilch. Boost pipe also splits on these the 90 degree one that comes of the turbo delaminates. Lynall
Paul Whibley
All sorted now, it was the exhaust manifold gasket. It had blown through 1 & 5 cylinders, plus someone had got at it before as 3 studs had been sheared off. New studs and gasket everythink tickety boo.
