western
OK, Guys & Girls My 110's front diff pinion bearing has far to much horizontal & vertical play, can it be changed without removing the diff assembly from the axle case ? I know the front prop & pinion flange will have to be removed.

I know the front prop & pinion flange will have to be removed. Maybe, if you can figure out how to pull the race. But it will be hard to properly setup the bearing preload. Also, it could be the inner bearing. When either bearing goes, you get slack.
western
Hmmm, perhaps I'm looking at a replacement diff assembly then, not overly worried about that, the existing one has seen excess of 390,000 miles of road & gently off road use. istruggle2gate11
the existing one has seen excess of 390,000 miles of road & gently off road use. Is this in a triggers broom kind of way? Wow! I would have suggested having a go at rebuilding the diff as its not particularly hard to do, but in this case I wont!
Ex Member
I agree, with that mileage, the ring and pinion and all bearings should be changed.

Nope, it's the diff the 110 was built with, rear axle is the same too, they're not mega noisy when running either & have plenty of good quailty EP90
Les Henson
The bearings come out internally Ralph and the pinion shaft is in the way, so diff assembly out I'm afarid. Might as well do all 4 while you are in there, then another 300 - odd thou before you need to touch it again. Les.
western
Cheers Les, it'll have to survive a few more weeks until I've a free weekend to sort it out.

Maybe, but if it were me I wouldn't run an R&P with 300k on it.... when you have it out and the chance to replace it.
