Ah,Bill's stuff!

I had heard rumours that he was no longer in the CVs market,I assume they were probably wrong then...

Might I ask you the price?

They came not really cheap IIRC.

But they're not on sale yet AFAIK...?

Yes they are the ashcrofts, they had a 32 spline CV on view in a cabinet there today when I was there, along with a number of the drive flanges. Didn't ask how much though. Not on my shopping list yet.

Cheers

I find it funny that they are saying TESTED at the Scorpion challenge........

The only guy that competes on those events that was offered a set is Ed......

Funnier still is that he (I might be wrong) told me he had not had time to fit them before the last round.....

No i'm wrong

HE did fit them for the last round, but not for the one before, knew i'd get it right in the end.

But you would not call that Extensive testing, would you?

Jez if you want a ste of Ashcroft drive members give me a call, we now stock them.

Jim :)

Hi,

"they had a 32 spline CV on view in a cabinet there today"

Steve we are making 2 types of CV, one is the 2522 style the other 'looks' like the 32 spline later one but actually takes a larger 23 spline shaft, this means you can fit it in the later axle with the 23 spline shafts, no messing with hubs, flanges Etc.

Jim, with regard to testing, it sounds like last weekend you gave then a pretty extreem workout, very encouraging.

Whilst on the subject of unbreakable axles (my specialist subject at the moment !) next time your diffs are out lets give them a dose of this :

Hi Dave

Thanks for that

So if fitting rear ARB, keeping existing front diff and uprating half shafts and CV's all round what would you recommend? What components would I need?

Cheers

x2 23/24 new CV from Ashcroft to replace the 32/24 you currently have

new Ashcroft extreme shafts

Ashcroft Drive members

cush drives are an option

and get the ARB fitted diff pegged

that will set you up with a tremendously strong rear axle

the front diff will be a weak point till you replace it as it will only be a two pin diff

if you do not plan to get a ARB in the front try and get a 4 pin diff as fitted to the rear in The Army wolfs

also available elsewhere but at a ££ for the money probably cheaper to fit another ARB(4 pin standard)

ARB's from muddy trout, you'll get discount for buying more than one BTW.

Above is what I'd do in your position.

Hi,

Trev "Shame you don't do 4.75s to go with that. There's a few of us hoping they'll be in for Christmas."

we have made them in the past but proved to be a very slow mover so we didn't make another batch,

Steve "So if fitting rear ARB, keeping existing front diff and uprating half shafts and CV's all round what would you recommend? What components would I need?"

Tony is dead right (except where to get the ARB from !)

Dolly "What are you making your CVs from? "

I was not sure whether to disclose this or not but I guess if we want people to shell out on good kit it is only fair you know what you are buying :

Inner : 300M

Cage : 300M

Bell / stub : 4340

Have two big events back to back beginning of December, So we'll see how they fair.

People have been pegging diffs for years on the comp-safari scene, albeit not as funky as the Ashcroft version. Mine were large bolts with a blob of copper welded onto the ends. I ran standard open, but 'pegged' diffs in my old Bowler racer and never bust one in four years so if anyone's in any doubts-yes- pegging does work.

I trust you've sold out of 4.11 R&P's since my glowing write up in LRW Dave :)
