I'll tell you mine, while you are waiting. My gripes with Adrian Flux are as follows...

Everytime you make a modification you are charged a 25 pound admin fee to alter policy. You could save them up to renewal time, but in doing so you'd have potential issues if you had a claim.

If you need to make a claim, in my view Adrian Flux are useless. They do the absolute minimum amount of effort and if there is an issue the only way to get it resolved is to go direct to insurance company who policy with. The Adrain Flux people's knowledge is non existent and as a result they have no idea how to handle a claim for a particular insurance company.

An example of this in my case was that they logged a single accident as two with the insurance company resulting in me having to pay two lots of 250 pound excess to get my car back from the bodyshop, my no claims went down from 5 years to 1 year and this is still unresolved after an accident in November 2006.

My Defender was recovered by Land Rover as it was less than 3 years old and taken to local dealer. Naturally the bodyshop quoted for business and this quote went direct to Adrian Flux. Adrian Flux said they had all they needed and the repairs were approved and the car booked in. When I dropped off my car and picked up courtesy car I was told that I needed to insure the courtesy car through my insurance. OK I thought, but I was then charged 26 pounds per week by Adrian Flux, and as the car was in six working day that was 52 pounds. I said that I thought under the policy that a courtesy car was covered, response was that it is but only for approved bodyshops.

So they never told me that it was not one of their approved bodyshops, and that I should also take to an approved one for a quote.

So thanks to Adrain Flux's ineptitude I am out of pocket by over 300 pounds still and have to chase it up almost 12 months later. It's also AF's fault that my No claims was not protected, but that's another matter.

So I went to NFU and won't be putting business AF's way again.

Cheers

Steve

I have just claimed, albeit not through their 4x4 department. My BMW was stolen and very slightly damaged. Claim was settled without any problems. My insurance has however doubled because I lost my introductory no claims bonus. I am now looking for a cheaper quote.

As far as 4x4's are concerned, they are the only company who will insure my challenge truck without a second mortgage..

I rang them once with a rrc i had once. They wanted to charge more because they said the alloys were a mod. I told them they were not a mod they came with the car when it was new as it was a nearly£40,000 car when new

Would not have it and wanted to charge £150 more a year for it

Told them to get lost

I'm a happy customer - they insured the 109 without batting an eyelid (apparently some consider such classic vehicles as modified :D ), and they insure dad's RR for peanuts. Hell, the guy I spoke to on the phone we ended up in a conversation about MegaSquirt as he was thinking of fitting it to his car and I listed it as a mod

i liked adrian flux when i was with them,

but they quoted too much last year and i went with lancaster.

what a shower of sh!te they are!

2 weeks before my policy came up for renewal i had some mad woman say i scratched her car with my motor in a car park. Total bollox as she wasnt even parked there when i arrived. anyway - i gave her my insurance details as i had my baby with me and frozen food defrosting so i could escape and let lancaster know about it for their information. They said it would not affect my renewal price as the 3rd party hadnt put a claim in and it was for info only on their records.

went away on holiday and came home 3 days after my renewal date to find they have scrapped my NCB, classed an unresolved claim against my name and tripled my premium for the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and no, the woman hasnt yet put in a claim either!

they never called me or informed me by post either, first i knew about it was when i opened my insurance docs and saw the direct debit price!!!!!!

lancaster said tough luck, if the woman doesnt make a claim after 3 months they will then honour the existing quote and refund me the extra monies i will have paid. if she does make a claim, i have to wait till i win and then they will refund the extra monies.

total robbing sods.

But have you had to claim?

I thought Cornhill were OK until I claimed for a stolen Astra. I was paying by installments so they deducted the outstanding payments off the settlement. This left me with £32 and no car. They settled before they sent a letter asking if the settlement was OK, refused to let me have a loan car because they had settled, couldn't find recordings of conversations unless it suited them and mis-quoted me.

When I lived in the UK I always insured with NFU (National Farmer's Union) - really good service well-priced and I highly recommend them. incidentally they also insured my two spaniels (not to drive the 110 before anyone gets any bright ideas) for about a 1/3 of what the so-called specialist pet unsurers wanted.

I have to say I find them fairly useless....

I added my Girlfriend to the Defender policy over the phone in July for a trip in August. They duly charged me £25 qid and that was that.

I return from the trip to find 2 letters, one dated the Thursday before we went, stating that unless they get a copy of her licence or they will cancel my policy (something they had not asked for over the phone or at any other time) - and one dated the Thursday before my Return with a final ultimatum.

I emailed them as soon as i got home, saying that I hvae been away and the licence is in the post, and then again the following week to confirm they had it. I heard nothing so emailed again the next week, only to find a letter on my doormat saying my insurance had been cancelled.

Phoned them and waited in the longest que to finally be told - We have not recieved any emails from you at all. B0LLx I say as I had a response from one and auto responses from all the others.

The lady dealing with it practially called me a liar and said she would contact her IT dept "but i doubt they will find anything"

2hrs later " We are Very sorry, your emails were all recived on the dates and times you stated but were held by our software. We cannot re-instate your insurance but will refund your admin fee and the remainder of the policy and if you choose to insure with us again we will do this without an admin fee as well."

Defener insurace for a 26yr old and a 23yrd old - £109!

I used to be with NFU, but they buggered me about so much, I left them, went to Adrian Flux, much cheaper, Yes I have claimed I ran into the rear of my other car.

they handled the claim well it was all sorted.

I have just had a renewal for her sportscar limited miles at £88

when I was insuring the bobtail for the first time they were one of two companies who knew what a bobtail was.

We used to use NFU but they called me to say they could no longer insure me for offroad use after renewal so I went over to Adrian Flux for all three vehicles (110 modifed, Disco modified and Mini modified) all three policies are bloody cheap, a lot less than my Dad pays for his bog standard punto in fact!

There have been several people with very modified Land Rovers who I know use them offroad saying they use NFU lately so maybe things have changed. We may go back to NFU if they can get near AFs price.

We had a claim via NFU a few years ago and they were brilliant.

Will :)

Of those above adding their 2 peneth, and who are insured with NFU, do you have modified vehicles ? - as far as NFU are aware.

I used to be insured with NFU, but upon buying a bobtail, they were unwilling to continue my insurance as they would not cover modified vehicles.

I now have 3 modified vehicles insured with Adrian Flux, and am reading this thread with great interest. :(:o

I will say however, my wife insured her bobtail ( don't ask ! ) with AF for £100 less than I insured mine. When questioned, AF said the difference was because she is female :o

I'll let you make up your own minds on that one. :P - not the being female !!

90 and 110 insured with NFU. The 90 has a locker, 2" lift, side bars, 8-spokes and 255s all of which they know about. I know that they are not keen on non-Defenders being modified though.

It all seems to be down to which local office you use and whether they are any good. I use the office in Chippenham and they are great.

Was insured with A Flux in the past and was not impressed, mainly by the aeons spent on hold so that they can relieve you of £25 in admin fees for a simple change to the policy. I do have a motorbike insured with them though as they were so cheap! Since I do not intend to make any mods to the bike I will (I hope) not have to call them.

i am with the NFU and have been for years (11 ) including house insurance etc. they cover both my LRs including all the extras on each of them which they acknowledge with a 'your policy documents have been updated' last year was £476 for both vehicles fully comp and anyone over 25yrs to drive. £100 excess. no charges for updating and even did £25 for breakdown cover on our pyrennes trip (insurance already covered it as expected)

Claims - couldn't be easier with them, or the ones i have had to date couldn't!

So AF - dont know havent tried them i tend to stick with who i know but shop around at renewal time to see what others will charge me!
