Fatboy
Hi, I'm currently over in Mull for the Tour of Mull Rally (Support for Mini Cooper S) and am seeing a lot of well kitted out Land Rovers about on marshalling duties... Keeping an eye out for Western etc and was at the Isle of Mull Hotel last night for the Tunnocks Teacake eating contest where the carpark is loaded with Solihulls finest... So, who else from here, is here??? (Or if you have read this when you've got back to the mainland, did you enjoy it??)

Well, I'm back on the mainland. What an incredible event, great fun. I never actually managed to pick out likely LR4x4 candidates even though I wandered through some of the events donning my "House of Flying Spanners" tattoo. First of all, many, many thanks to all of the 300 marshalls and officials. They were obviously the backbone behind a phenomonal event and it permitted the rest of us to have superb fun! Although we potentially had a very competitive car in the MINI Cooper S, we got crippled on the first stage by an engine management problem which we think was caused by using the wrong fuel - We had ordered Super Unleaded, we got Race Fuel.... A lack of experience saw us adding the stuff to the tank and it killed the Lambda sensor - maybe doing other damage so lots of the event was done in "Safe Mode"... Regardless - The point of this note was not to wax lyrical about our challenges, but to say Thanks to the massive support squad.!

western
kept a look out for you Dave, but didn't spot the 110 about, we did 2,7,10,11 & 15. 7 on friday night & 11 on Sat afternoon were cancelled due to cars going off & safety services going in, nothing serious other than 1 or 2 broken arms IIRC. we attended cars 117 on stage 2, 74 on stage 7 & 71 on stage 15, 117 was a rolled Mk2 Escort, 74 & 71 were both Nova's both had broken front right suspension. a good holiday in Mull otherwise
