david jones
I have a problem selecting gears especially reverse. My gear stick started to get a bit sloppy, then a couple of days later, when I tried to select reverse, I found that the gearstick was just turning rather than selecting the gear. I stripped the transmission tunnel to get a better look, but coud see nothing obviously wrong. I can select reverse by pushing the selector fork back manually with a bar, so the problem is somewhere else. Thinking that the problem could be solved by fitting another gearstick complete with swivel ball, etc. I obtained one, but it didn't do the trick, as it is turning around in the selectors just like the original. Any ideas would be very much appreciated, as I've come to the end of my tether just about.
Les Henson
There's a grub screw type thing that goes through the side of the alloy cup and locates in a slot in the side of the ball end of the gearstick. If the screw comes undone or wears out the gearstick becomes sloppy and selecting gear becomes difficult. Les.
