About to rebuild the calipers all round and was wondering which way to go regarding the pistons, either stainless or plated .... bearing in mind stainless are double the price. Anyone got any thoughts about this.

How long are you planning to keep the car?

How long have the present ones lasted?

It might help you decide if it is worth going for the more expensive option

Don't know when they were last changed as I've only had the car a few months.

Need to keep it for at least 3 or 4 years.

If yr only keeping it 3 - 4 years, stainless probably not worth it.

Cant be bothered to change them again in 18 months when the chrome has peeled off, there rusted to death and siezed. Bit the bullet and went stainless.

Even managed to changed the nightmare retaining rings for the dust seals without bending them into another shape.

i'd go chrome, you will get a 3-4 years out of them

Good choice there , I replaced mine with stainless , As the chromeing process aint as good as it was years ago .

Where can i get a good set of pistons and seals from? need to do the front brakes on me 200tdi 90.

The last lot I bought was from Bearmach and that was for 2 x twin pot calipers on a 90. 4 pistons, and two sets of seals/sealing rings was about £40 if I remember right.
