diesel dave Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 hi. i've been thinking about adding a p38 dse to the family, but when i check out the various advertisers (e-bay included) a considerable amount of cars have had major engine work. engine replacement, cyl heads, oil pumps etc, etc. is there a known fault with these engines, and are they to be avoided? JSG Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I suspect its down to a lack of servicing or dodgy upgrades in many cases. The BMW S6 is not stressed at all in standard P38 guise - but it is a bit under powered for some people so it often gets tweaked. I had one and had no problems whatsoever with it. Quote
landroversok Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I run a p38 DSE IN ORIGINAL SET UPIt has 270,000 plus miles on the clock any runs as smooth as silk . Quote
Escape Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I run a p38 DSE IN ORIGINAL SET UPIt has 270,000 plus miles on the clock any runs as smooth as silk . That's good to hear. Mine had 200,000 miles, also original, and so far no problems (just the usual wear, alternator, servopump, visco...). Hope to do many more miles! Quote
