Lars L Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 A buddy has a 1985 Range Rover V8 with an engine number that doesn't make sense. According to various spare parts lists, it sould start with two digits and a letter. This one is D07162B and nothing else. What could this mean? Rover car, Buick or something else? Quote
Bull Bar Cowboy Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 There are 2 numbers missing in front of the number you have .................... i.e. 24D, & 25D are RRC 3.5's.................36D is a RRC 3.9 etc......... it goes like ............ pre fix (24D , 36D , 41D etc) ,... serial number (usually 5 digits) .............. then and 'A' of 'B' depending on build type. There are lots of sources of RV8 engine numbers on the internet ............... look here ..............http://www.v-8.org.uk/engineno2.htm Ian Quote
Lars L Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 OK, thanks, I'll pass it on. Thing is that he knows that there should be a couple of digits in the beginning, but hasn't been able to see any. I'll take a look when I see him. Quote
