disco tony Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Now that Stu666's disco has passed it's MOT, I can say this is an approved way to repair the sills!! First, cut out all of the old sills, leave the door pillars and the bracket from sill to floor (inner sill). leave a 10-15mm lip to weld to. Remove body to outrigger bolt (rear), then offer up new sill (Purchased these from RDH engineering, rdhcorby.co.uk). Jack into final position and tack up. Weld all outside edge, then to inside where front body mount meets sill. I chose not to replace the front ones as they were ok and it made life a LOT easier. A quick grind, a lick of paint, (the satisfaction that the door will cover cr^p welding!!) the finished article!! Sounds simple, it took about 5 hours per side but had a mare with the body mounts. On the second side, I did remove the outrigger mount completely before installation, this does make the job a lot easier and I think they will more than outlast the rest of the disco!! I also welded all of the inner edge but RDH say its not nescessary. Stu was more than happy and bestowed me with ample beer tokens Quote
