Mo Murphy Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Morning all, I'm currently in the process of looking for training courses to retrain as a domestic installation electrician. I've found some courses and would like some experienced sparkys opinions on their content and their qualifications at the end. If you'll have a look for me, pm me and I'll send the links to the courses. Avoid posting here and then hopefully the mods won't get the arse and delete it Mo Quote

redben101 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 If i were you i would wait a few months as the current 16th Edition Electrics is going to be superceded by the 17th edition. Not sure of others but PGL training in Exeter is about £1200 ish ( price used to be negotiable ) Quote
Chris Rogers Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Gaining electrical qualifications is a bit of a double edged sword. A quick question, how much electrical experiance do you have? The few week wonder courses are frowned upon by most in the electrical trade, as they produce people who have the bit of paper, but no really electrical experiance, nor the common sense to be able to apply the regulations in the correct way. How longer time frame do you have? ideally you want to do your C+G 2330, or whatever its changed to now, and then get your 2381 then 2391 qualifications. I do alot of work in the electrical industry, and i picked up the C+G 2381 and 2391 qualifications in my spare time and do part time work. I'm NAPIT registered. The hardest thing i found is that i have no real practical qualifications to show my experiance. The only way i'm getting around it is because i'm undertaking a degree in Electrical Engineering tehy're cutting me a bit of slack. If you want to chat a bit more PM me! Chris Quote
