This conversion addresses the problem of layshaft flex and fatigue breakage in the second gear area common on series1,2 and 3 gearboxes and involves grinding off 1st and reverse gear teeth from a scrap series 3 cluster gear and grinding or milling the four coarse splines that accept the series 2 press on 1st gear pinion. the splining obviosely needs to be done at an engineering works or precision grinders shop.
