Guest diesel_jim Posted November 27, 2007 Share Posted November 27, 2007 I use wickes "direct to metal" paint, which is their version of hammer$hite.... much cheaper, and, IMO, gives a nicer finish, almost got a grey tint to it, and doesn't seem half as brittle as hammerite... which chips really easily. gruntus Posted November 27, 2007 Share Posted November 27, 2007 Hi Nick, I had my axles shot blasted and primered and have applied a few coats of hammerite which looks lovely and shiny chips off really easy. I will be applying something like schutz or underseal over the hammerite which will should protect the hammerite underneath. At least thats the theory..............
