cress
Hello again, 2 in a row, On my 300Tdi, occasionally when travelling at speed the speedo drops to zero. I have tried changing speed and this made no difference. Then just as it drpped to zero it can zoom back to indicate speed. This does not happen often, It has lasted from between 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Is this likely to be the speed sensor if so where is it? or is it more likely to be a bad connection somewhere? Any help much appreciated. Ivan
BogMonster
Speed sensor is the most likely cause - it's on the transfer box
Mark
Dragging this to the top again, as my speedo was playing up this morning on the drive to work, followed by it not working at all... is it a question of rplaceing the senso, or just cleaning up the connections? anyone got a part number for the sensor? ta Mark
BogMonster
All the ones I have seen with problems have worked once a new sensor was fitted but I suppose you could try cleaning the connections first. The sensor isn't very expensive IIRC.
Mark
Does this sound right? YBE100540 SPEED TRANSDUCER 90/110 V8 DISCO 1 95 ON £37.30 Seems a little pricey-er than I was expecting...
BogMonster
Oh. I thought it was about £15 or so. Guess not Have you tried Bearmach etc for a non gen one?
Mark
No I havn't, but I am starting to shy away from non gen/OEM stuff... Local dealer has one in stock, so I will grab that and see if it fixes it...
