Hendrik
Hi, Can someone tell me how much flow the standard defender brakepump provides? thx Hendrik
western
if you mean the vacuum pump it doesn't blow but sucks = vacuum, the workshop manual doesn't give any figures or information on the vacuum pump.
Hendrik
It's about the master cylinder (wasn't sure about the name) part number NRC9529 for a 90 and NRC8690 for a 110/130. Thx H.
western
Ok, that won't have a flow rate as it doesn't pump like a power steering pump does, it just transmits pressure, again no further info in the workshop manual.
TomG
Do you mean the volume of fluid (e.g. in cc) the master cylinder pumps in a single full stroke of the pedal? Not that i know the answer, but i guess you could measure it by disconnecting a pipe from the master cylinder and diverting it into a container. Max flow rate is probably achieved in one of those moments when you're bowling along at 70mph and a deer or something jumps out in front of you
Hendrik
Indeed tom, That's what I'm looking for... I installed wilwood brakes but after getting all the air out of the circuit, it's still not braking well (like a sponge...). Now we think that the "volume" that the cilinder pumps is not big enough for the wilwoods...
TomG
Hendrik, There's a thread about this on the difflock forum in the extreme offroading section, look under 'Volvo axles disc brakes conversion' mentions using a Volvo master cylinder. Mods: Is it acceptable to post the link to another forum or not?
western
Yes, quite acceptable to post a link to other related LR info.

MogLite
Willwood also make master cylinders. I've got one of theirs on my Range Rover servo in MogLite. MogLite needed a big master cylinder for the Unimog slave cylinders. I think mine is 1 1/8" so it moves a lot more fluid. Willwood should be able to recommend a master cylinder size for your brakes.
