nakatanenga
Does anyone know the gear ratio of the Borg Warner Transfer case of a 1990 3.9 V8 Rangie? The sticker on the box probably fell off ;-) THX Peter
teslo
i suppose i should be 1.2 as Range Rovers in that era had 1.2 LT230. main gearbox was same in all models...so it should have also same ratio transfer box
ChrisV8
According to my book of words ratio is 1.206:1 high and 3.244:1 in low. LT230s for RR 15D is 1.192 and 28D is 1.222 so all pretty near 1.
nakatanenga
SUPA! thx for quick reply. So i will fit the 1.41 LT230 with 265/75 or 285/75R16 and the overall ratio will be allright again. Peter
DEANO3528
Well just for information: My mate has 35" KL71 tyres on his '92 tdi manual and with a 110 transfer box replacing the BW it is back to almost exactly the correct gearing. Henry Webster
The Borg Warner makes a really good box for a competition vehicle. Tomcat Motorsport do a set of lower ratio gears for it that I believe take it to about 1.5:1 Certainly makes a big improvement in the gearing - I still run the rally Discovery on 225/75R16's so it has improved the acceleration no end.
